A colossal profit jump of 326 percent occurred in CheckFree's 2006 fiscal first quarter. This large net income was boosted in part by the performance of the company's electronic commerce unit. CheckFree's Electronic Commerce solutions enable thousands of people to receive and pay their household bills online.

During this quarter, the company reached a milestone of two million portfolios under management, which also represented 18 percent annual growth. The Software division delivered a strong performance in the first quarter with revenue growth of 54 percent.

In the first quarter of 2006, the Atlanta-based financial electronic commerce services company posted a net income of $26.4 million and earnings of 28 cents a share compared with a 2005 first quarter net income of $6.2 million and earnings of 7 cents per share.
