CheckFree Ninth on 2007 InformationWeek 500

Building CheckFree Corporation, in the process of being acquired by Fiserv, announced on September 18th that it ranked ninth on the 2007 InformationWeek 500. The rankings were revealed at an awards ceremony at the InformationWeek 500 conference in Tucson, Arizona. This is the first time that CheckFree, headquartered in Norcross, Ga., has been named among the top 10 companies.

CheckFree received recognition for the company's innovative use of information technology, most notably within CheckFree Web(SM), the payment platform used by more than 2,000 financial institutions to support their electronic billing and payment services.

"CheckFree has dedicated substantial resources to the development of a world class technology organization and fosters a culture that values innovative thinking and high quality standards," said Steve Olsen, CheckFree Chief Operating Officer. "The effective application of technology allows CheckFree to bring our financial institution customers and the millions of consumers they serve an online payment experience that enhances their ability to manage their financial life. Recognition in the top 10 of the InformationWeek 500 affirms our continued commitment to that vision."

The CheckFree Web "feature pack" upgrade process highlighted in the InformationWeek 500 entry enables CheckFree to launch product updates to thousands of financial institutions simultaneously, in real time. The feature pack approach allows CheckFree to offer frequent updates, thus providing millions of consumers with access to the latest online bill payment features and functionalities. The traditional migration process associated with the move to a new product was eliminated, allowing CheckFree and its customers to save thousands of man hours.

"We'd like to extend our sincere congratulations to all InformationWeek 500 honorees. These companies represent today's leading technology innovators, many of whom have joined us this week," said InformationWeek vice president and publisher, John Siefert. "This group has prompted fascinating discussion on some of the most forward looking business technology initiatives to date."

For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
