Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to Benefit From ChoicePoint® Windward Challenge

James E. Tally, president and chief executive officer of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta ChoicePoint on August 23 announced its eighth annual Windward Challenge charity 5k, scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, at 6:30 p.m., which will support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

The ChoicePoint Windward Challenge regularly features competitive runners, not-so-competitive runners and families with strollers and dogs. This year, a raffle will be held for a free domestic coach ticket, courtesy of Delta Air Lines.

In seven years, the ChoicePoint Windward Challenge has allowed the company to gather its Windward area corporate neighbors and raise more than $400,000 for a common cause. Last year, the race raised more than $92,000 and drew more than 400 participants to support SafeAmerica and the Atlanta YWCA's TechGYRLS initiative.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is recognized for excellence in more than 30 pediatric specialties, including cancer, cardiac, neonatal, orthopedic and transplant care. Child magazine ranks Children's as one of the top five children's hospitals nationwide and Children's is among U.S. News & World Report's top pediatric hospitals.

"Without the generosity of donors, Children's simply would not be able to expand facilities and enhance services critical to meeting community demand," said James E. Tally, president and chief executive officer of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. "In fact, the demand is a significant one: Atlanta's pediatric population is one of the fastest growing in the U.S. and is expected to increase by 120,000 in the next three years. With ChoicePoint's help, we can provide critical resources to children in need."

"At ChoicePoint, we are passionate about helping children and vulnerable populations. We are proud to support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta -- a nonprofit that touches so many lives in the greater Atlanta community," said Derek Smith, ChoicePoint chairman and chief executive officer.

Registration for the ChoicePoint Windward Challenge is only $20 in advance or $25 on race day. The registration form is now available online at www.active.com.
