When Bad Things Happen To Bad People-Part 1!
When we started the TPAtlanta newsletter and community over two years ago, our mission was to inform, to educate, and to enlighten our friends in the Transaction Processing Industry.
One of the goals of this Publisher's Column was also to try to make you think beyond your current role and your current company by discussing issues that might not be part of your normal water cooler conversations. And in doing so, we have spent considerable effort delving into some of the more sinister aspects of our industry, if only to heighten our collective awareness of what can go wrong if we are less than diligent in our business practices.
For the last two months, we have used this space to talk about Off Shore Financial Centers and their role in various money laundering schemes.

ChoicePoint's ADAM Program The ADAM program, a service of ChoicePoint in cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), continues to play a critical role in the recovery of missing children across the United States. NCMEC has confirmed that the recent recovery of a 13-year-old girl in Indianapolis, Ind., was the 94th missing child who has been found by using ADAM since its inception in 2000.
ADAM (Automated Delivery of Alerts on Missing Children) was developed by ChoicePoint and donated to NCMEC to increase the chances of safely recovering missing children by dramatically improving NCMEC's ability to target the specific areas in which children are most likely to be found.
In the latest ADAM-related recovery, a 13-year-old girl ran away from her home in Indianapolis on April 30. Her family received information that she had been staying in the local area so a ChoicePoint broadcast fax was sent within a 25-mile radius, specifically targeting law enforcement agencies, restaurants, medical centers, transportation centers, shopping centers and hotels. NCMEC was contacted by the girl's father that she was found on May 19.
