Season's Greetings
It is hard to believe it's that time of the year again. In the rush to finish various projects or deal with planning and budgeting for 2006, we suddenly realize that the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us. The convergence of these events brings the Transaction Processing Industry into the mainstream of our every day lives, especially when things do not go as designed by those of us in this business.
For the past few months, we have discussed and included stories in TPAtlanta of bad things that have happened when companies overlooked important details and allowed fraud to creep into their businesses. However, in the spirit of the season, this month's column will not be "doom and gloom." In fact, we want to focus on how each of us, as Transaction Processing Industry professionals, can conduct our personal business at this time of the year in a safe and efficient manner.
It never hurts to get back to basics every now and then. Whether shopping in a local mall or clicking away on-line, the old faithful credit card -- despite our love-hate relationship with it -- may be the safest way to pay for gifts this holiday season.
